Putting the Fun Back in Fundraising

Silent auctions, golf tournaments, 50/50 Raffles… how many times has your organization put on one of these events? I have a feeling you might be thinking “too many times”.  Below are a few suggestions that might shake up your annual campaigns. As always, when planning a fundraising effort make sure to consider ways that key partners and sponsorships can save your organization costs.

5k or Fun Run

A 5k is a wonderful option for a low cost high reward event. All that you truly need is empty road and a cheering section! If dealing with your city or county on road closures is not worth the headache check out your local high school and see if they allow their track fields to be rented.

Chore Auction

No one likes to do housework, why not use that to your organizations advantage? Instead of having a typical raffle at your annual gala, raffle off household chores. Ask your volunteers and members to volunteer some of their time by offering up their skills. Two months’ worth of lawn mowing has quite the appeal!

Be A VIP

No one wants to sit in the nosebleeds or at the table behind the column. Why not allow people to upgrade their seats at monthly lunches or at the annual awards? Make sure that you communicate the price increase as going towards specific fundraising goals so that your attendees know the extra cost is worth it! Want to go the extra step? Offer the ability to buy a seat at the head table.

These are just a few ideas, what creative ways does your organization fundraise?
