Give Yourself a Break and Be Creative!

It appears that Americans are finally getting the message that disconnecting from work is a good thing. We’ve all heard the statistics that tell us how many vacation days are unused annually and there has been a very slight decrease which means more people are actually taking the time off they’ve earned. Let’s be honest—it’s not just that we’ve earned the time off—it is that we NEED the time off.

Have you ever heard people say that they’re most creative when they’re not at work?  There is something about stepping out of your usual routine that allows new ideas to flood our brains. But, if we never take a break from work or life, what happens to our creative selves?

In order to really disconnect and be creative, you may have to put your phone or tablet down, so you can be in the moment.  This appears to be the one thing we just can’t do but we need to try. For example, if you’re on vacation, unless you’re going to take pictures with your phone, leave it in your hotel room!  I know, that sounds impossible but try it and see if can make a difference in your ability to think creatively!

Clearing your mind to allow new ideas to float in is exciting and may be just what you need to be your best, innovative self!
